Bill Gates, Microsoft Founder, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, Each Donate $100,000 For Marriage Equality
Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are coughing up a bit of cash for marriage equality.
According to the Associated Press, Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, and Ballmer, the company’s CEO, have each written $100,000 checks to Washington United for Marriage, a same-sex marriage advocacy group based in Seattle.
In February, Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire signed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state, and the law was to go into effect on June 7. But that was put in hold last month when opponents gathered enough signatures to put the the bill up for referendum in the November general election.
According to its website, Washington United for Marriage “is a coalition of organizations, congregations, unions, and businesses working together to defend civil marriage for loving, committed same-sex couples.”
A Microsoft spokesperson told The Huffington Post that the company doesn’t comment on political contributions made by employees, including the CEO.
Drunk man rams car into police station after bicycle arrest – Odd News – Digital Spy
A man rammed his car into a police station as revenge for being arrested for riding his bicycle unsafely.
The 37-year-old was arrested and charged for riding without lights on the wrong side of the road while intoxicated.
Police stopped the man on Sunday afternoon in the central German city of Braunschweig and smelt alcohol on his breath, the Bild newspaper says.
After being released on bail, the man returned a few hours later with his car and smashed into the front of the police station he was taken to.

Mermaids don’t exist, declares US government – Odd News – Digital Spy
The National Ocean Service has declared that mermaids do not exist.
Part of the US government, the scientific agency made the statement as a result of people enquiring about the fictitious half-human half-fish sea creatures.
The Animal Planet cable network in America on May 27 aired a tongue-in-cheek ‘documentary’ about the possible existence of mermaids called Mermaids: The Body Found.
Afterwards, the National Ocean Service received questions from people who had watched the show not realising it was fictional.

Minister bursts into song on TV | Orange UK
An Australian government minister shocked journalists by bursting into song during a live television interview.
Craig Emerson, the minister for trade and competitiveness, was defending his party’s controversial carbon tax.
When asked to comment on the impact of the tax on the mining town of Whyalla, he burst staged his song and dance routine.
To a prepared backing track, he launched into a rendition of 1975 song Horror Movie by Australian band Skyhooks, complete with is own self-styled lyrics and dance moves.
65-year-old man told by doctor he’s pregnant – Odd News – Digital Spy
A man in Sweden was told he was pregnant.
Gösta Eloffson, 65, visited a doctor and partook in a second urine test when the results from the first one indicated that he was expecting.
It was theorised that the first test was compromised by the same contaminated bacteria a pregnant woman would have.
Eloffson from Ragunda recalled to The Local: “The doctor joked I was pregnant, and then told me I’d have to do another test. We all had a good laugh about it for a while… Everything’s fine now. I’m not pregnant.

Video: Knife-wielding ‘buxom’ robber holds up petrol station in Australia – Telegraph
Local media said the incident occurred just after midnight on Monday. Australian television reports said local police dubbed the woman “the buxom bandit”, due to her revealing clothing.
Closed circuit television shown on Nine Network showed the blonde robber walking into the petrol station, before brandishing a knife in front of attendant.

Fraud Victim Forgets She Never Had a Son | Russia | RIA Novosti
A woman in Kursk region in southern Russia has paid a ransom to free her son from frauds posing as policemen – forgetting she never had male offspring.
The 54-year-old woman, whose name was withheld, was awoken at night by a call from an alleged traffic policeman informing her that her son was responsible for a large-scale road incident, police said on Tuesday.
She was told the matter could be settled for a bribe, and rushed off to transfer a total of 54,000 rubles ($1,600) to three telephone numbers via a payment terminal, the report said.
